Tigers Win Over Ohlone 2-0

Ohlone College's baseball team came into last week's series against the Reedley College Tigers with a 4-1 record and a preseason ranking of third in Northern California.

On Saturday afternoon, the Renegades returned to Fremont with a 4-3 record.

Alec Akins and three relievers combined to blank Ohlone 2-0. It was the third straight win for the 5-4 Tigers.

Offensively, Josh Mares (Selma) drove in Hans Brown (Immanuel) with both Reedley runs. A triple by Mares scored Brown in the third before Mares had a run scoring single in the seventh. The freshman finished with three hits and raised his batting average to a team best .417. Damien Holmes also had two hits for the Tigers.

Akins lowered his team best earned run average (for starting pitchers) to 1.13. Closer Sid Lacy recorded his third save and has yet to allow an earned run this season.

Sacramento City College brings a seven-game winning streak and a 7-1 season record into a 6 pm Thursday night matchup with the Tigers in Reedley.
