Brewer’s Big Day Propels Cañada Past CCSF
So. 3B Jacob Brewer drove in four runs on three hits to lead Cañada past City College of San Francisco 19-2 on Saturday at San Francisco State University. Brewer singled in the 2nd inning scoring one, singled in the 4th inning scoring three, and hit a solo home run to left field in the fourth scoring one.
Cañada got on the board in the 1st inning after Fr. 1B Cole Leschak doubled, scoring one run.
The Colts added to their early lead in the top of the 2nd inning after So. 3B Jake Brewer singled to center field, and Fr. DH Patrick Sanchez doubled to center field, each scoring one run.
The Colts won thanks in part to 10 runs in the fourth inning. Brewer hit a solo home run to left field, So 2B Chris Arce drew a walk, scoring one run, Leschak tripled, scoring three runs, Brewer singled, scoring three runs, and Fr. LF Caden Cuccia doubled, scoring two runs.
So . RHP Devin Bettencourt stepped on the bump first for the Colts. The righty surrendered three hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking one. Fr. Ryan Kinoshita came in to relieve getting 4 Ks in two innings pitched. So. LHP Dylan Petrin struck out the side during his one inning on the mound and So. LHP Drew Parenti threw a scoreless inning for the Colts to close out the game.
Cañada accumulated 16 hits in the game. Brewer, Leschak, and Cuccia each collected three hits and Fr. LF Logan Faildo and So. RF Tanner Van came up clutch for the Colts with 2 hits a piece. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing seven walks in the game. So. SS Kyler Bittner stole two bases.
