REDWOOD CITY – College of San Mateo surged to its sixth consecutive victory, a crucial 8-4 triumph at Cañada College on Thursday to close out the regular season.

The Bulldogs' win, combined with a Chabot College victory over Skyline College on Thursday, gave all three squads a share of the Coast Conference North Division championship as they ended with identical 15-5 conference records. The Coast Conference title for CSM is the first for head coach Riley Goulding. The Bulldogs last captured conference championships in 2019 and 2017.

On Thursday, Michael Volkman turned in an impressive start on the mound for San Mateo as he went 6 innings, allowing a pair of runs and 8 hits in earning the victory.

Charlie Welch smashed a solo home run in the top of the seventh and Lucas Schumaker had 2 RBI to lead CSM at the plate.

The Bulldogs closed out the regular season with a 25-13 overall record and will now look towards the playoffs. Matchups for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs will be announced soon.
