Las Positas knocks off CCSF in battle of unbeatens; LPC, Skyline lead mighty Coast North, San Jose, Cabrillo top South Division

Coast Conference Men's Basketball Update

Former No. 3 state-ranked Las Positas College prevailed over No. 1 City College of San Francisco by a final score of 81-69 on Friday night in a state and Coast Conference North Division showdown of undefeated teams. With the win, Las Positas improved to 16-0 and is the state's lone remaining unbeaten team.

The Coast North has shaped out to be one of the top conferences in the state. Currently, the top-six squads in the division have combined for an 81-14 overall record. Las Positas and Skyline (14-2) are both 2-0 in the Coast North while CCSF (15-1), Ohlone (13-3), Chabot (12-4), and Cañada (11-4) are all right behind at 1-1. | STANDINGS

In the South Division, San Jose (14-4) and Cabrillo (10-8) currently lead at 2-0 with perennial power West Valley (14-3) at 1-0.

CCCMBCA State Rankings
Las Positas' win over San Francisco catapulted the Hawks to the No. 1 position in this week's California Community College Men's Basketball Association (CCCMBCA) State Poll while CCSF dropped a spot to No. 2. West Valley also moved one place to No. 4 in the poll.

Other ranked Coast Conference squads include No. 13 San Jose, No. 17 Skyline, No. 18 Chabot, No. 21 Cañada, No. 22 Ohlone, and No. 30 Cabrillo (tied).

On Wednesday (Jan. 15), No. 1 Las Positas hosts No. 18 Chabot and No. 2 CCSF travels to No. 17 Skyline. Friday's top matchups include No. 4 West Valley at No. 30 Cabrillo, No. 1 Las Positas at No. 21 Cañada, No. 22 Ohlone at No. 2 CCSF, and No. 17 Skyline at No. 18 Chabot.
