The City College of San Francisco water polo team defeated the Laney College Eagles 28-21 yesterday at CCSF.

The win pushes their Coast-South Conference record to 2-2 (2-4 overall) and sole possession of third place.

The Rams came out the gates quickly against the Eagles (0-5) by striking for 11 goals in the first period. Their 11-5 lead by the end of the period proved to be insurmountable as the Rams continued to attack Laney's zone defense, increasing their lead to double digits midway through the second period. The Rams held their double-digit lead until the fourth period.

The Rams well-balanced attack was led by sophomore Ashley Davis, who scored a game-high 10 goals. Davis now has a team-leading 27 goals in just six games played. Freshman Julia Lane scored seven goals followed by freshman Molly Moakler's six goals.

The Rams are on the road on October 14 and will participate in a tournament at Delta-Stagg High School. They will play Laney College at 12:30 p.m. followed by a match against Sacramento City College at 1:40 p.m.
