Amanda Jarrett outscored the entire City College of San Francisco women's water polo team to make an auspicious debut for College of San Mateo with ten goals in a 21-8 season and league opening victory Wednesday afternoon at the College Heights pool.
The recent Hillsdale High grad scored the game's initial goal in the first minute and the Bulldogs never trailed. "I'm really excited to be here," said Jarrett, a 2022 All-Peninsula League player, who scored 52 goals last year for the Knights.
"Her teammates did a good job of getting the ball to her," said CSM coach Andrew Silva. ""We saw great progress for our first game." It was also the Coast Conference opener for both teams.
Jarrett scored four goals in each of the first two quarters -- as the Bulldogs led 13-6 at the break. Audrey Beaumont-Bent, another freshman out of Hillsdale, had four goals.
San Mateo next visits State No. 3 ranked West Valley College (the top NorCal team) on Oct. 4 at 3 p.m. in Saratoga.
