The West Valley women's water polo team clinched at least a tie for its third consecutive Coast Conference regular season championship with a commanding 31-1 win over De Anza Wednesday in Saratoga. After De Anza (0-4, 0-4 Coast) tied it at 1-1 early, the Vikings (18-4, 8-0) sprinted out to a 21-1 halftime lead and rattled the cage with 30 unanswered goals. All 10 Viking field players scored, led by Nadja Novakovic, who had eights goals to go with three assists and four steals. Maria Higginbotham found the back of the net four times, while Asya Cardenas-Miranda, Sierra Ceballos, Alana Daigneault, Alexis Goldin and Heather Gray each scored three times. Isabella Ruzsa had a pair of goals, and Emily Fields and Maryam Khatoon each scored once. The Vikings wrap up the regular season Oct. 30 against Las Positas ( 5-7, 3-3) at the West Valley Aquatics Center. The ball drops at 4:15pm.
