The West Valley men's water polo team avenged a season opening loss to Diablo Valley with a heart stopping 14-11 win Friday at the 2019 Larry Invitational at the West Valley Aquatics Center. Ben Fleming found the back of the cage three times in a crucial fourth quarter, as WVC outscored DVC 5-4. Jack Carlson had two crucial second half goals and Inego Gonzalez had a key fourth period tally. Fleming finished with a game-high five goals, followed by Gonzalez and Miguel Navarro with three each. The Vikings (6-8, 2-0 Coast) take on San Jose St. in an exhibition game Sunday, 10/13 and then travel to Merced (10-9, 2-0) 10/16 for a crucial Coast Conference battle. The ball drops at 3:00pm.
