Hawks face top competition at Cuesta Tournament

The Las Positas College men's water polo team traveled to the Central Coast over the weekend to compete at the Arena-Cuesta II Tournament in San Luis Obispo and faced some of the top teams in Southern California.

While the Hawks gained valuable experience, their overall record took a hit as they suffered four losses. On Friday, LPC lost 14-4 to host Cuesta and fell 20-6 to Saddleback College. Saturday started off with a 22-4 loss to Mt. San Antonio College and concluded with a much closer 11-9 defeat to Ventura College.

Freshman Kyle Young led the Hawks on offense, totaling 9 goals and 5 assists over the weekend. He did his best to keep LPC in the game against Ventura, scoring four times while adding an assist. And against Saddleback, he led his squad with 3 goals and 2 assists.

LPC goalkeeper Quentin Perry totaled 30 saves over the four games, including 14 against Mt. San Antonio.

Las Positas is 7-12 overall and returns to Coast Conference play on Wednesday (Oct. 20) when the Hawks travel to Ohlone College for a 4:15 p.m. game.
